Therapeutic Approach
Every adolescent who receives treatment at Cove Forge participates in a treatment program that is tailored to his special needs. Residents participate in individual therapy at least once a week, group therapy four days a week, and family therapy at least twice a month, as well as a variety of workshops and educational courses. Residents also participate in experiential ropes therapy on our 16-station high and low ropes course twice a week.
Admissions Criteria
Challenge House Mental Health Program Admissions Criteria:
- Male between 12–18 years of age
- Mental Health Diagnosis (DSM-IV) with serious emotional disturbance/mental illness
- Medically stable
- Not actively suicidal
- Not dangerous to self or others
- Ability to function in a therapeutic community
- Low-normal to high intellectual capacity
- Ability to care for personal hygiene
Trust House Dual Diagnosis Mental Health/Mental Retardation Admissions Criteria:
- Male between 12–21 years of age
- Mental Health/Mental Retardation Diagnosis (DSM-IV) with serious emotional disturbance/mental illness
- Medically stable
- Not actively suicidal
- Not dangerous to self or others
- Ability to function in a therapeutic community
- Ability to care for personal hygiene
