Therapeutic Approach
Every adolescent who receives treatment at Cove Forge participates in a treatment program that is tailored to his special needs. Residents participate in individual therapy at least once a week, group therapy four days a week, and family therapy at least twice a month, as well as a variety of workshops and educational courses. Residents also participate in experiential ropes therapy on our 16-station high and low ropes course twice a week.
Level System
At Cove Forge residential treatment facilities, we strive to teach and reinforce positive behavior patterns in our adolescent patients using a level system, rules and regulations, and consequences for unacceptable behavior.
All consequences are designed to reinforce appropriate behavior, and are based on the natural outcome of the individual's actions. For example:
- Poor behavior at off-campus activities may result in not being allowed to go to the type of activity for a period of time.
- If a resident litters, he may be assigned extra clean-up detail.
- Arriving late for group may result in either having to come earlier for groups or having to set up before group and clean up after group.
